His team does their utmost to find him, but due to the heavy storm they have to evacuate.They think Mark did not survive and inform their control center and return to earth with their spaceship Hermes.One of the employees of Nasa notices movement on the satellite images. Nasa soon finds out that Mark Watney is still alive.A veritable media circus ensues. The whole world hopes that Wantey will survive, but the next mission to Mars is not scheduled for another 4 years...This film is a true Science Fiction spectacle. After a few minutes I was completely sucked into the storyline. The visual effects are a joy to watch. You almost get the idea that you are standing on Mars yourself.I have read the novel as well. Often when books are adapted into films, many details are cut from the final script, so the book is always a bit more detailed than the film itself. That can sometimes be a disappointment.Here it is exactly the opposite. The final film is much more spectacular than the book itself. In the book there was more focus on Watney's diary entries and much less on the environment in which he finds himself. The only thing that holds it back for myself are some goofy physical movements and lack of emotional depth.
